About VB.NET

Visual Basic is easy to learn and teach programming on the Windows platform, in particular for GUI programs. Although widespreadly used throughout the world for database applications you can also do fun stuff with it either.

With VB.NET one has a nice tool for rapid development targeting the powerful .NET framework. The good news is that Microsoft's programming tool for Visual Basic .NET is freely available as an Express Edition.
